Health Guarantee

Your parrot’s health and well-being are our highest priority. Every bird we sell is free of parasites, disease, viral infections, pathogenic bacteria, fungal infections, and congenital deformities at the time of purchase.

Our 5-Day Restricted Health Guarantee

All birds come with a 5-day limited health guarantee.
If your avian veterinarian discovers a health issue within these 5 days and can prove the condition existed before purchase we will:

  • Replace the bird, or
  • Provide a full refund

To qualify, the buyer must surrender the bird along with a written report from a licensed avian veterinarian. The report must:

  • Clearly state the diagnosis
  • Include the vet’s official letterhead
  • Contain an official stamp or seal
  • Include the bird’s band number

After the 5-day window, we cannot extend the guarantee, as the bird’s environment and care are no longer within our control.

If a Bird Passes Away Within the 5-Day Period

If your bird dies within 5 days of purchase:

  1. Refrigerate (do not freeze) the body immediately, inside a sealed plastic bag.
  2. Take the bird to a licensed avian veterinarian within 12 hours for a necropsy (autopsy).
  3. The necropsy must determine whether the cause was:
    • A virus
    • A congenital defect
    • A pre-existing condition
  4. Provide us with:
    • Photos and video of the deceased bird
    • The veterinarian’s official report with an official stamp
    • The bird’s identification tag/band number

If confirmed, the bird will be replaced or refunded in full.

Please note: We do not reimburse veterinary or necropsy costs, nor shipping fees from the original purchase.

Important Band Number Requirement

The leg band is your bird’s official identification.
If you remove the band:

  • The Health Guarantee becomes void
  • A vet must document the reason for removal and the original band number

3-Day AVIAN-Certified Vet Inspection Guarantee

You may, at your own expense, request an inspection from an AVIAN-certified veterinarian within 3 days of receiving your bird.

If the vet finds a health issue related to conditions prior to purchase:

  • Provide us with the written report
  • Return the bird immediately

Once verified, you will receive a full refund of the bird’s purchase price.

Again, shipping and veterinary costs are non-refundable.

12-Day Extended Necropsy-Based Replacement

If the bird dies within 12 days of arrival:

  1. Wrap the body in paper towels
  2. Place it in a sealed bag
  3. Refrigerate (not freeze)
  4. Take it to a licensed avian veterinarian within 72 hours for necropsy

If the vet confirms the death was caused by a condition that began before the sale:

  • You will receive a replacement bird from the next available clutch of the same species.
  • The buyer is responsible for the necropsy fee.

Per clause 3(a), the bird must be quarantined. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure proper isolation.

Situations That Void the Health Guarantee

To keep your guarantee valid, the following conditions must be met:

1. Proper Quarantine

The bird must be kept in strict quarantine, away from all other birds, until the vet exam is completed within 24 hours of receiving the bird.

2. Documentation for Homes with Existing Birds

If you own other birds or have had birds in the same environment within the past year you must provide documentation of their health.
Many viruses can survive in an environment for months after an infected bird is removed.

3. Baby Birds & Weaning

Baby parrots must be fully weaned before going to a new home.
A weaned bird:

  • Can self-feed for at least two weeks
  • Maintains a stable, healthy weight

If you choose to adopt an unweaned baby, a weaning fee applies.
This fee varies by species and age of the bird.
