Refund and Returns Policy

Our Guarantee

At African Grey Kius, we take great pride in delivering healthy, active birds to our customers. In the rare event that a bird arrives deceased, we will issue a African Grey Kius Credit equal to the value of the perished bird. This credit will be provided as a coupon code for use toward a future purchase.

Live animals are not returnable.

To honor our guarantee, all claims must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of receiving your bird and must include a photo of the deceased animal.

Necropsy Requirements

In some cases, a necropsy from a Board-Certified Avian Veterinarian may be required before a credit is issued.

  • If a necropsy is requested, results must be sent to info@africangreykius.com within 24 hours of completion.
  • If you cannot locate a Certified Avian Veterinarian, we can arrange the necropsy for you. Contact us immediately for instructions on preserving and shipping the bird to us.

Extended 60-Day Live Bird Warranty (Optional)

We are committed to supporting you during your first 60 days of new bird ownership—an important transition period. This optional warranty is available for orders totaling $499 or less and can be selected at checkout.

Warranty Coverage

The Extended Warranty includes:

  • Coverage of the replacement value of any bird that perishes within the 60-day period
  • Support and guidance from our knowledgeable staff
  • Recommendations for environmental care, nutrition, air quality, toxin awareness, and acclimation

Warranty Limitations

The warranty does not cover:

  • Owner negligence (improper diet, injury, unsafe conditions)
  • Situations outside African Grey Kius control
  • Replacement travel boxes or shipping fees
  • Failure to notify us in writing about health concerns during the warranty period

The Extended Warranty cost is calculated at 19% of the total value of eligible birds and safety travel boxes (supplies and services not included).

Requirements for Warranty Claims

  • Notify us immediately of any health concerns so we can guide you.
  • If a bird dies within the warranty period, a photo must be submitted via our Contact Us page.
  • Customers must take precautions regarding toxic foods, plants, and household hazards.
  • Birds must be properly cared for, including veterinary consultation if symptoms such as lethargy, fluffed feathers, head-tucking, or excessive sleep are observed.

Caring for Your Bird

It is the customer’s responsibility to:

  • Research your bird species prior to purchase
  • Prepare properly for your bird’s arrival
  • Follow our care instructions, FAQs, and additional recommended resources

Our birds are weaned but may not be hand-fed. Taming and bonding times vary by species and require consistent effort and gentle interaction.

Returns Policy for Non-Live Products

Customers may return unused, non-live products within 5 days of delivery if:

  • The item is in original, undamaged packaging
  • The return includes the order number
  • You have contacted us before returning the product

Return & Exchange Details

  • Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs.
  • Sale items are not eligible for refunds or credit.
  • Customers may request an exchange or refund for non-live items.
  • Safety travel boxes are not eligible for store credit.

Refunds will only be issued if all conditions above are met.
